Can you help with heating and cooling installations?
Our specialisms are boilers, heating systems, ground and air source heat pumps, plumbing and solar thermal hot water. If your project also requires cooling, mention this at enquiry stage so the scope can be confirmed. Cooling capability depends on the equipment and system design; it should not be assumed for every heat pump.
Should I choose a boiler or a heat pump?
The answer depends on your property's heat loss, insulation, existing radiators or underfloor heating, available space and hot water demand. A properly assessed system matters more than a one-size-fits-all recommendation. We can discuss boiler and heat pump options as part of your heating enquiry.
Why is my radiator cold at the bottom but hot at the top?
A radiator only warm at the top can indicate sludge or restricted circulation, although some temperature difference is normal. Bleeding is not usually the answer to a cold bottom. If the room is not reaching temperature or the problem persists, arrange a professional assessment before choosing a treatment.
What if a radiator is cold at the top or leaking?
A radiator cold at the top may have trapped air, but a leak needs separate attention. If a radiator is leaking at the top, switch off the heating, keep water away from electrics and contact a plumber. Do not remove fittings or keep topping up a system with an unresolved leak.
How do I top up boiler pressure safely?
The steps for a Worcester boiler pressure top up or a Vaillant boiler pressure top up vary by model. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and specified pressure for your appliance, with the system cool. If you are unsure, can see a leak or pressure keeps dropping, arrange an engineer's check rather than repeatedly adding water.
