Why is my radiator cold at the bottom but hot at the top?
A radiator only warm at the top can indicate a build-up of sludge or restricted circulation. Some temperature difference is normal, so note whether the room reaches its set temperature and whether other radiators are affected. An inspection can establish the cause before any treatment is recommended.
What does a radiator cold at the top mean?
Trapped air is a common cause, though it is not the only possibility. Follow your system's instructions before attempting to bleed a radiator and allow it to cool first. If the issue returns, or you are unsure, ask for advice rather than repeatedly venting the system.
How do I top up boiler pressure?
The method and correct cold pressure depend on your boiler and filling arrangement. For a Worcester or Vaillant boiler pressure top up, use the instructions for the exact model, not a generic guide. Do not open unfamiliar valves. Repeated pressure loss needs investigation rather than regular topping up.
What should I do if my radiator is leaking at the top?
Turn the heating off and let it cool. Keep clear of hot water and protect nearby surfaces if safe to do so. Avoid loosening the bleed valve or other fittings, and contact a plumber. Tell us where the leak is coming from and how quickly water is escaping.
